Schwarzenegger Cautious About New "Terminator Salvation" Movie

"The Terminator" will be back next summer, but the original killer robot, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is a bit puzzled by this new model, at least so far.

"I still don't know how it will play out with this one," said the star-turned-governor, who said he was given a private screening of early footage from "Terminator Salvation" by producers of the franchise reboot. "They showed me some footage, but I don't have a feel for the movie. I didn't see enough. I wasn't sure who the Terminator was. I don't know if there is one or if he's the star or the hero. These are the things that determine the success and how the strong the movie will be."

This will be the fourth of the "Terminator" films but the first without the Austrian-born muscleman who became an international film legend in the role of an assassination machine with cool sunglasses and a deadpan delivery. "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" in 2003 was Schwarzenegger's last starring role before he gave up Hollywood for Sacramento.

Schwarzenegger loves to talk Hollywood, and Friday afternoon he chatted about his favorite recent movies -- he absolutely loved "Wanted," for instance, and he says Will Ferrell movies are so funny that he's getting "a six-pack" of abs from all the laughing -- and he addressed the topic of a new "Terminator" for the first time in any depth.

Schwarzenegger has been playing a different sort of "Terminator" these days -- last week he ordered the layoffs of 10,000 state employees. He has said that move, along with sweeping salary reductions for state workers, will take pressure off the California coffers during the continuing budget impasse in Sacramento.

"Terminator Salvation" is being filmed now in New Mexico and stars Christian Bale, who wears the mask of Batman in this summer's history-making hit, "The Dark Knight." Bale won't be a Terminator robot -- just the opposite, he plays a grown-up John Connor, the leader of the ragged human resistance against machine-men oppressors of the future.

"Salvation," directed by the filmmaker McG, will be a prequel to "The Terminator," the landmark 1984 film directed by James Cameron. In 1991, Cameron and Schwarzenegger teamed again for "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," which grossed more than $200 million in U.S. theaters.
"Salvation" is trying to pay homage to that history even as it charts its own course. McG ("Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle") sought out Cameron's blessing for "Salvation," which is far more bleak, unsettling and savage than the third film in the series, directed by Jonathan Mostow. "Salvation" producers also arranged for the governor to see an early "sizzle reel," a montage of scenes of the sort shown at Comic-Con International last month, where "Salvation" was popular with fans.

Schwarzenegger was polite but cautious when he was asked what he thought of the reel. "I've seen very little footage, so I don't really have a feel for it. I hope they do well, and I hope it is a huge hit. I do hope it creates a spectacle on the screen. That is what James Cameron created."

"The politician, who turned 61 last week, remains an ardent booster of Hollywood. Despite the crises around him in the state capital, he gushed about what a wonderful season it has been for popcorn entertainment. "It shows how important Hollywood is to our state economy and how much people love movies," he said.

But will Schwarzenegger be able to watch any new "Terminator" film and not feel a pang of loss?

"No, the same thing happened with bodybuilding," he said. "Seven times I won the IFBB Mr. Olympia title, a record, no one had done that. Then someone else [South Carolina native Lee Haney] won it eight times. Do I sit and say, 'Darn it, my record is gone' or 'Darn, I'm not up there on stage'? No, because I've moved into other phases of my life. I moved on from bodybuilding into entertainment. Then I moved on from entertainment into a political life. Now this is the most exciting experience of my life. When this movie comes out, I won't be sitting there saying, 'Why can't I do that?' I hope it makes a lot of money and is very successful."

Inside Supplements: Recomp Performance Nutrition Slick Pleasures Lubricant Review

Recomp Performance Slick Pleasures: A Personal Connection

Recomp Performance Slick Pleasures is a pleasant tingling and warming personal lubricant that enhances the sexual experience for both partners!

Designed to increase blood flow and enhance nerve sensitivity using all natural ingredients!

Recomp Performance Slick Pleasures' Patent-Pending formula is original and unique - like nothing you have tried before!

The Science
Raspberry Ketones have a molecular structure similar to that of capsaicin. Like capsaicin, raspberry ketones dilate the blood vessels closest to the skin, promoting blood circulation in the area. Blood circulation is an essential aspect to pleasure and arousal. With increased blood flow for both partners all sensations are augmented. Raspberry ketones give Slick Pleasures a pleasant taste and aroma, characteristic of raspberries.

Beta Alanine is an amino acid that together with histidine forms carnosine, and extremely potent buffering compound. Beta Alanine also acts on nerve endings stimulating and increasing random electrical firing, which produces a pleasant tingling/warming sensation. It also amplifies actual touch, effortlessly floating you and your partner to orgasm. This action is unique to Slick Pleasures due to the proper combination of its natural ingredients.

The natural silicone polymers used in Slick Pleasures provide a frictionless, non-sticky layer, for continuous enjoyment. The silicones make Slick Pleasures a water-repellent personal lubricant, ideal for all water activities. Slick Pleasures is Latex Safe (condom-compatible).

Slick Pleasures uses volatile silicones that stay with you while you need it and then evaporate and get absorbed into the skin. The natural ingredients then act on your skin, providing a renewed and supple skin.

Aphrodite
Aphrodite Rising, the engorgement... the pounding pulse of Eden, discovered...evoking the goddess' spirit in both women and men. Slick Pleasures restores the most sacred aspects of the sexual experience through closeness and intimacy, a bond forged in ecstasy.

Slick Pleasures is original and unique - like nothing you have tried before!

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Raspberry Ketones, Beta-Alanine

2008 IFBB Ironman Pro Bodybuilding Results and Photos

When Phil Heath skipped the 2007 IFBB Mr. Olympia last year, the murmurs began. Was Heath cut out for the big time? Would he realize his full potential? Or was his fast start out of the gate -- victories in his first two pro shows, a top five showing at the 2007 Arnold Classic -- just another case of a rising star headed for a quick burnout?

Heath answered his critics, revealing an impressive, amazing physique and rolling to the 2008 IFBB Ironman Pro title. Clearly, he was hard at work in the gym the last 12 months, adding key front-to-back thickness in his upper body, along with more width in his shoulders, and size and detail all around. With 15 more pounds on his frame, Heath stands as a true force to be reckoned with at the 2008 IFBB Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio in two weeks, where precontest favorite Dexter Jackson, Melvin Anthony, and other top contenders loom.

Second place went to Gustavo Badell, who had plenty of size but, with some stomach distention holding back his symmetry, couldn't overtake The Gift on the scorecards. Still, he now looks forward to the 2008 IFBB Arnold Classic with top five again in his sights.

Third was the surprise of the show, Mo Elmoussawi. Previously known for a great set of arms, the rest of his physique is taking shape. He was sliced, diced and more balanced than he's been in the past, allowing him to squeak by a formidable opponent in Silvio Samuel. Samuel arguably could have been as high as second in this contest, but still could make some conditioning improvements in the next two weeks -- he wasn't totally on here, and if he dials in the rest of the way he also should find himself battling among the top five at the 2008 IFBB Arnold Classic.

American Body Building (ABB) Launches New Website

AURORA, Illinois, February 4th – American Body Building (ABB) has been providing bodybuilders and strength athletes with a comprehensive line of high-quality performance supplements since 1985.

Known as "The Force In The Gym", and its flagships products Speed Stack, Speed Shot, Ripped Force, Pure Pro, and Extreme Body RTD 50, ABB just launched an enhanced version of its corporate web site where athletes can shop an online store stocked with sports supplements and gym gear, get breaking news updates on nutrition and fitness research, view press materials and ad campaigns, even post their comments.

In the near future, they’ll be able to download videos and games. New content is constantly being added.

One of the most interesting new features is a Product Suggestion System that recommends supplements based on specific visitor selected goals. “Our new web site is designed to inform visitors, provide access to products and motivate everyone to accomplish more in the gym,” said Jeremy Galanes, ABB Web Master.

American Body Building is a wholly owned subsidiary of Optimum Nutrition. The success of both companies is based on a long history of listening to customers, researching the latest scientific studies and exercising strict quality controls over every step of cGMP-approved in-house manufacturing. Both Optimum Nutrition and American Body Building offer comprehensive lines of mixable powder, liquid, energy bar, capsule and tablet supplements.

Inside Supplements: Optimum Nutrition 2:1:1 Recovery Review

What you eat, when you eat it, and how much you eat has a dramatic effect on your performance. But, not all nutrient combinations work equally well.

Optimum Nutrition 2:1:1 Recovery is based on the latest science demonstrating that blending different types of carbs and proteins maximizes absorption and leads to better results than the use of larger amounts of any single type.

Hydrolyzed whey, micellar casein, and egg albumen proteins provide immediate and sustained amino acid delivery for repair and rebuilding while the precise ratio of simple sugars and rapidly-digesting carbs in Optimum Nutrition 2:1:1 Recovery helps refuel and replenish hard-working muscles.

And with 5 grams of added BCAAs in the proven 2:1:1 ratio of Leucine to Isoleucine to Valine to stimulate muscle protein synthesis, there’s no question that 2:1:1 Recovery is an indispensable part of every serious athlete’s routine.

American Gladiators: Valerie Waugaman, Beth Horn, Jamie Reed, Tanji Johnson & Mike O’Hearn

Taping begins for the new American Gladiators’ show tomorrow.

A new commercial is currently airing on NBC for the show, which will begin in January.

The commercial features a couple familiar faces; IFBB Figure Pro Valerie Waugaman and former IFBB Fitness Pro Beth Horn. We also spotted NPC Figure Competitor Jamie Reed and IFBB Fitness Pro Tanji Johnson.

No official announcement of who the Gladiators are but given that taping starts tomorrow, we’d expect one soon.

Sources close to the show tell us that the show is slated for six seasons, with 12 days of shooting per season.

Former competitive bodybuilder and cover model Mike O’Hearn is also featured in the commercial.

Rumor has it that MMA fighter, Gina Carano is also an American Gladiator.

Stay tuned for updates as they come...

Inside Supplements: Optimum Nutrition Vassive-NO Review

Next Generation Pump Technology For Pre-Workout Energy!

When athletes speak of the "pump" what they're really talking about is the increase in muscular blood flow brought about by a cascade of events initiated by an intercellular gas called Nitric Oxide. At any given moment there are only tiny amounts of NO present in the body. Even small increases in normal physiological levels can, theoretically, lead to significant gains in the gym, track or arena. ON Vassive-NO uses exclusive Twin Action Pump technology to help signal the pump through equally important direct and indirect modes. In the direct mode TAP provides traditional NO-precursors and cofactors designed to ehance the rate of NO conversion. Indirectly TAP supports the suppression of factors that inhibit vasodilation.

Muscle fiber activation is the key to overall strength. The more motor units and muscle fibers that are activated during an activity, the greater the force generated in the muscles will be. In other words, strength is executed in the muscle, but begins with the mind. The MyoPsych blend provides a host of powerful compounds designed to stimulate the mind-muscle link and ehance recovery, so that you can focus on achieving the prize: more strength in less time.

Strenuous activity often increases dietary requirements while concurrently increasing the rate of nutrient excretion from the body. The result can be suboptimal nutrient levels that hinder performance through premature fatigue, muscle cramping or decreased power. Metabo-MgP, a blend of nine compounds provides nutrients that are essential for healthy metabolism, critical for maintaining nerve and muscle cell activity, and highly involved in intracellular energetics - particularly within muscle tissues.

Inside Supplements: Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex Gainer Review

Don't judge a gainer based solely upon its calories per serving. Because when it comes to gaining lean mass, not all calories are created equally. Unlike typical weight-gain formulas that are loaded with simple sugars and fat, ON Pro Complex Gainer derives a much higher percentage of calories from protein – 7 premium sources of protein to be exact.

And, while some "ultra-hardgainers" require 1000, 1200, or even 1500 calorie/serving weight gain products, many athletes can gain quality mass with considerably less.

By also supplying complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), digestive enzymes, vitamins, essential minerals, and great taste as well, ON has created the ideal lean gainer. ON Pro Complex Gainer was made with quality, not quantity in mind. Because you want to get big, not fat.

Beyond The Basics...
Ultimate LEAN GAINER Formula

Inside Supplements: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Casein Review

Sometimes slower is better - especially when it comes to the rate of protein digestion. While rapid protein absorption is desirable immediately before or after exercise, delayed release is probably more beneficial throughout the remainder of the day. Casein proteins are pH sensitive and gel in the acidic environment of the stomach. As a result, it can take more than twice as long for caseins to be broken-down into their amino acid subcomponents than whey and other proteins. Casein is the most abundant protein present in milk. It is considered a high quality protein because it is easily assimilated and it supplies sufficient quantities of amino acids that cannot be synthesized by the body.

Another benefit is increased satiety (feeling of fullness or satisfaction). Casein exerts a slight pressure on the stomach walls. In effect, this pressure signals to the brain to stop eating because the stomach is full. Casein is the most slowly digested and absorbed type of protein. This helps create a "timed-release" effect, providing a steady stream of amino acids to your muscles over a long period of time. The net result is a greatly enhanced anti-catabolic environment which is much more friendly to growth and recovery.

Bodybuilders and athletes looking to build lean muscle, prevent muscle breakdown, and reduce recovery times, and individuals interested in improving the quality of their sleep can greatly benefit from casein.

Casein Research
Perhaps the most interesting kernel on casein to come from the scientific community is the Boirie study, which found that casein managed about a 31% increase in protein synthesis (to whey's 68%)... but also reduced whole-body protein degradation (catabolism) by 34%. More importantly, researchers found that casein contributed to a positive nitrogen balance an average of 7 hours after ingestion.

The Biorie study has since spurred further research of casein. Another study looked at the effect casein might have on body composition when used as part of a 12-week weight-training program. Participants were separated into two groups, each of which maintained a balanced diet including 75 grams of protein per day. The difference was in the sources of protein used: while the first group relied on whey-based drinks to reach their daily protein requirements, the second group made use of milk protein isolates (80% casein, 20% whey). At the end of the study, the milk protein isolate group had lost more fat (15.4 lbs. vs. 9.2 lbs.), gained more lean mass (9 lbs. vs. 4.4 lbs.), and gained more upper and lower body strength than the whey group.

Inside Supplements: Beta Alanine Review Part 2

Beta-Alanine Update
Written by Anssi Manninen, MHS

Touted as the biggest scientific breakthrough since Creatine, the amino acid Beta-Alanine is starting to gain worldwide popularity as more people find out just how effective this supplement really is.

Scientific research has shown Beta-Alanine can:
Boost explosive muscular strength & power output
Increase lean body mass
Increase anaerobic muscular endurance
Increase aerobic endurance
Delay muscular fatigue- train harder & longer

How Does Beta-Alanine Work?
Much of Beta-Alanine's effects are realized by boosting the synthesis of an intracellular (inside the cell) buffer called carnosine. Carnosine is a dipeptide, composed of the amino acids Beta-Alanine and Histidine and has the ability to stabilize muscular pH by soaking up fatigue-causing hydrogen ions (H+).

How Much Can Supplementing With Beta-Alanine Increase Our Carnosine Levels?
Researchers have shown that when supplementing with
